The new competition format has today been revealed for the 2019 Bob Dearsley’s Very Old Masters Golf Tournament which is now in its 3rd great year.
There has been much speculation concerning what exactly the old masters will be competing for this year, most of it due to the continuing confusion from last year and the year before, but today organiser and keen cat herder Clive Dearsley set out the formats.
“Errrrrr….. Same as last year but no more of that stupid Pairs stuff but with extra prizes for daily winners on each 9 and 18 holes and, after much speculation, introducing “The RJD Match Play World Series 2019!“
Full details are set out below which will no doubt be changed by Bob evolve as time goes by.
The RJD Match Play World Series 2019
There will be will be a knock out matchplay competition played over the 3 days of the tournament.
The Players will be seeded based on the positions in the last 2 years competitions and the matches will be drawn at random by Mandy Dearsley.
The matches will be played alongside all the other competitions.
(Basically just play golf as normal and one of the staff or Nurses will work out the scores later.)
The format will be matchplay based on stapleford score ( to save having to score different formats) this means that if both players blob the hole is halved.
Handicap difference will be 90% of the difference.
example: Bob 13 playing Tony 28. Difference = 15, Bob will give Tony 90% 0f 15 = 13.5 (14) shots to be taken on stroke index 1-14
1st Prize will be $10 and The RJD Matchplay Trophy – To be provided by Bob Dearsley
Players will be seeded based on their positions in the last 2 tournaments.
