“New” Tuesday (or any other day) Golf Handicap Rules Oct 2017.

Well here they are. To be adopted 24 Oct 2017 and reviewed end of January 2018 (if anyone can be bothered)

Subject to ratification by a group of people in a pub somewhere.

 

Tuesday (and any other day) Golf Handicap Rules Oct 2017.

  1. Starting handicap will be the players club handicap.

  2. The following handicap reduction rules will be used:

    1. Player wins front 9 = 1 shot reduction

    2. Player wins back 9 = 1 shot reduction

    3. Player wins 18 holes = 1 shot reduction

  3. If 2 or more players both have the same winning score on either 9 or over 18 holes they are all reduced by shots as above.

  4. The reductions are cumulative. For clarity if a player wins the front 9 and wins 18 holes that will be a 2 shot reduction, if a player or players win(s) front and back 9 and the overall 18 holes the reduction will be 3 shots.

  5. The new (reduced) handicap will be used the next time the player plays within the group. That may not be the following week. The reduced handicap will be retained until the player plays again in the group.

  6. The new (reduced) handicap will remain with the player until he has played with the group and NOT won anything. At that point, the following week, the players handicap will revert to the players club handicap.

  7. If a player wins on successive weeks any new reduction will be made from the players current handicap including when it has been reduced the previous week. In some cases a player may have his handicap reduced on a number of consecutive weeks.

  8. The players handicap will not return to his club handicap until he has played with the group and NOT won anything.

  9. If a players club handicap changes at any time then the player will use his new club handicap immediately. (for clarity – if a player wins on Tuesday and has his handicap reduced by 1 shot because he won and then before the next time the player plays with the group the players club handicap is reduced then the next time the player plays with the group he will use his NEW handicap which will be further reduced accordingly . This will also apply if the players club handicap is increased).

  10. The new club handicap will be used immediately If this coincides with a 1,2 or 3 shot reduction then the reduction will be made from the NEW club handicap.

  12. The new rules will be reviewed in January 2018.
